Book your flight now w/ SoundTransit

I recently discovered SoundTransit: A world-wide project where phonographers and artists contribute site-specific field recordings that are mapped by location and offered to users of SoundTransit either as individual recordings or part of a virtual travel experience called a “SoundTransit”. Users can book their SoundTransit across locations which have existing recordings mapped into the system and plan their itiniary around these recordings. All the audio is downloadable as MP3 and seems to be creative commons licensed. (although there doesn’t seem to be a clear marking of the licensing). Artists/recordists can contribute their own recordings to the system as well. I’m very excited about SoundTransit as both a possible source of unique audio for my own musical endeavors as well as (yet another) place to burn away my spare time on the internet.
